Mojiko Art Wharf is held against the backdrop of historical buildings from the time the port opened, surrounded by beautiful water and green mountains, and offers visitors the opportunity to see diverse works of art throughout Asia and other areas.
In addition to the exhibition of invited artists and participants from four universities, the submission of artworks of wide-ranging genres is welcome from the public.
Artwork will be exhibited in various locations in Mojiko against the backdrop of historical buildings, the ocean, and greenery.
We invite vibrant and unique artworks for display in the traditional atmosphere of Mojiko. We look forward to your submission.

1) Documents are screened to select about ten artists (groups) in late July

2) Adjustments will be made with each artist for content and location, etc. of work to be exhibited.

【Production subsidy】
¥250,000 will be provided as a production subsidy to successful candidates.
*The production subsidy can be used for expenses related to the exhibition, including expenses for material, production, artwork transport, and carry-in, transport of other items, installation, display, repair, disassembly and carry-out, transportation, lodging, food and drink and other living expenses during the exhibition. Artists are not required to submit receipts to show how the subsidy has been spent.
*The production subsidy will be provided in full after an agreement is reached on artwork and display content between the artist and the office at the start of production. However, if participation in the exhibition has become impossible due to circumstances on the part of the artist, or if the actual artwork is markedly different from what is agreed by the office, or if structural defects have been acknowledged, the artist may be asked to return the production subsidy in full immediately.

*Exhibition period may be changed depending on the exhibition venue and exhibition content.
【Exhibition venues】
Please refer to the candidate exhibition venues posted on the website.
*Specific exhibition venues will be determined by the office, depending on the artwork.
【Carry-in and installation】
Exhibitors are responsible for the complete carrying in and setting up of the artwork by the day before to the exhibition.
However, available hours for preparing the artwork differ by exhibition venue; therefore, exhibitors will be asked how much time they require, and adjustments will be made to determine the time.
【Carry-out and removal】
Exhibitors are responsible for the complete removal and carry-out of the artwork after the closing of the exhibition.
Specific removal and carry-out dates will be determined after discussion with individual exhibitors because the dates and times available for removal and carry-out differ by exhibition venue.
【Individuals wishing to stay on site for production】
It is possible to stay for production according to the following schedule:
Period: About one week in September, October 1 to 21, and November 1 to 13, 2020
Venue: Former Dalian Route Terminal, Former Osaka Shosen, etc.
*If you wish to work on your art piece on site, you may be asked to open the production site for public viewing.
*The specific production period within the above period will be individually discussed and coordinated with each exhibitor.
*The period available for production differs by the facility. The production site will be determined after discussion with the exhibitor.
*The area used for production shall be cleaned by its users.
*There are lodging facilities available free of charge. The office will coordinate lodging facilities.
【Production Regulations】
1. There are no restrictions on genre, method, material, format, and size.
2. Exhibitors must create a feasible plan and take responsibility for carry-in, installation, maintenance, packaging, and carry-out.
3. For production on-site, exhibitors will be asked about their intentions, for example, creating to some extent before carrying in and assembling on site, and discussion will be held with the organizer to coordinate.
4. If it is possible for residents and visitors to observe the production process, or to offer an opportunity for interaction with residents, please write the type of cooperation exhibitor can offer in the exhibition plan field of the application form.
5. Please plan for artwork to be strong enough to continue to be displayed during the 1-month exhibition period.
6. Note for displaying artwork outdoor: Mojiko faces the strait, and sometimes it is exposed to strong rain and wind. Therefore, your artwork must be strong enough to endure the climate and natural environment. From the perspective of safety and maintenance, you may be asked to make adjustments to your artwork as a result of a discussion with the executive committee.
7. For the creation of artwork, exhibitors are asked to take appropriate precautions against wind, water, and dust.
8. Artwork that infringes upon the copyright or portrait right of a third party, or work that goes against public order and morals is ineligible for exhibition.
9. The following artworks are not eligible for exhibition:
○ Works promoting religious or political agendas
○ Works with the objective of collecting donations for a specific charity
○ Works with the objective of selling produced and exhibited works
○ Works with the objective of promoting specific organizations or companies
○ Works that involve eating or drinking
○ Works that may not ensure safety during their exhibition
10. Exhibitors are responsible for the maintenance of exhibited works.
11. There will not be individual staff to watch over exhibited works during the exhibition period. Please create work with consideration for safety.
12. If video or lighting equipment is required, exhibitors are responsible for the equipment and cables. Please write the required power capacity for exhibition in the exhibition plan field in the application form.
13. The copyright of the artwork is attributed to the exhibitor; however, the organizer shall be given right to freely use, partially revise or adapt for the operation and public relations of Mojiko Art Wharf, including exhibition of artwork, taking pictures and video recording of activities, posting on websites and SNS for Mojiko Art Wharf and related persons, printed advertising materials, posting in reports or other media, publication in press releases to media companies, and creation of articles related to exhibited artwork. We ask for exhibitors’ cooperation in request for taking pictures and video recording of their activities and interview requests from the media companies as much as possible.
【Other】
○ Personal information provided will be appropriately managed by the organizer and will not be provided to third parties. However, personal information provided by exhibitors may be used for the operation of this program, such as for business reports and executive committee materials. Name, personal history, intention of work, picture data, etc., however, will be released to the public.
○ For matters not noted above, discussion will be held individually before reaching decisions.
